Patrick McWilliams

Patrick McWilliams understands the role that science outreach can have in the lives of Michigan's schoolchildren. "I know that at my high school the sciences weren’t stressed very well. There was only one physics class in my high school, and only an AP class for biology, no other science." Pat believes that getting young students and their parents interested in science will encourage schools to offer stronger science curricula and offer Michgan's students more pathways into the sciences. For his extensive efforts working with Science Theatre to improve science education in Michigan from the bottom up, Pat is Science Theatre's Member of the Month for March 2010.

Describing Science Theatre performances, Pat writes "They allow me to get away from my monotonous schedule, and do something that will benefit local schools. Also, I love to work with kids, so the ability to have a positive influence on kids around the age of my youngest brother makes me feel that much better!" Performing with Science Theatre allows Pat to develop his interest in acting, play with liquid nitrogen, and even explore quantum mechanics!

Pat is a member of the Quantum Mechanics Show squad, as well as the team developing Science Theatre's new FRIB nuclear physics show. He has also already appeared in a phenomenal number of shows. Pat performed at Woodcreek Elementary in Lansing on October 13th, at Pansophia Academy in Coldwater on February 25th, at Wardcliff Elementary in lansing on March 3rd, at AA Rather School in Ionia on March 23rd, at Ralya Elementary in Haslett on March 25th, and at Nano Day at Impression 5 in Lansing on March 27th. In the coming months he will appear in performances on the Quantum Mechanics show on April 12th and 22nd and the FRIB show on May 1st.

Pat is a Physics major in the class of 2013 from Fenton, MI. He hopes to be researcher in physics at an institution such as CERN or Fermilab.
